The season finale episode of Legend’s of Tomorrow was an episode no one should ever miss. It was packed with major hints, reveals, and well, spoilers for The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl. Here are the easter eggs…
Fans of the CBS-CW DCTV shows know that the Constantine, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl all exists on the same DC multiverse. It has been speculated, and I personally believe, that the DC movie universe that started with Man of Steel and followed by Batman vs. Superman also exists in the same DC multiverse.
What separates these different stories was each exist on its own parallel world. For example, the world of Constantine, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, by CW was referred to officially as Earth-1. While Supergirl was set on a different earth, unofficially called Earth-3.
Where or what is Earth-2?
Earth-2 is the world where Zoom/Jay Garrick came from. This was the season 2 arc of The Flash. Next week, with the shows finale episode, it was spoiled in this week’s episode that Earth-2 is on the brink of destruction. The earth in Earth-2 is splittnig from North to South poles.
The spoiler scenes clearly hinted about something big. But if one does not follow Legends of Tomorrow, it would not make any sense.
The Great Reveal
This is where Legends of Tomorrow‘s season finale comes in. At the end of the episode, Rex “Hourman” Tyler showed up to the Legends team to save them from their deaths. But that was not the big reveal. It was when he introduced himself as a member of the Justice Society of America.
Justice Society of America
The Justice Society of America does not exist in Earth-1. In The Flash, when Barry Allen/The Flash went to Earth-2, the Central City Police Department (of Earth-2) have a mural of the JSA. Yes, this organization came from Earth-2. Rex “Hourman” Tyler clearly was from Earth-2.
Going back to The Flash season finale spoiler shown in this week’s episode, we can assume two things:
- Earth-2 was really destroyed because Zoom/Jay Garrick died. In DC, there must be one and only one speedster per parallel universe. Earth-2 residents escaped to various parallel Earths, Hourman went to Earth-1.
- Earth-2 was saved, possibly Zoom/Jay Garrick had a change of heart (we will find out next week). With the parallel worlds out of the genie bottle, the heroes (and villains) are travelling to and fro the universes. This will make the Justice Society of America and the Legends of Tomorrow teams much more important. They have to guard cross-world travel and time itself from incursions.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 2
From hereon, it is obvious that the second season of Legends of Tomorrow will be full of crossovers between the currently running DCTV shows, namely: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow itself, and Supergirl. Since Legends is about guarding time from changes, this major reveal meant they have a much more powerful enemy. One capable of traveling through spacetime. This means he can travel betweel parallel earths, space, and time.
We are no doubt going to see heroes from the Justice Society of America helping the Legends team. (Of course, we are going to see more of Supergirl too.)
Well, for now, let us all dream of the possibilities.
